Bio: Matt Alexander, CEO and Cofounder
In 2009, Matt Alexander and Dr. Ed O'Bryan cofounded OneWorld Health, an organization that provides developing communities access to quality, affordable healthcare. Under his leadership, OneWorld Health built and now operates six financially self-sustaining medical centers in Uganda and Nicaragua, with one additional facility on track to open in 2017.
Alexander and Executive Director Michael O'Neal represented OneWorld Health as Praxis Fellows during the 2014 Accelerator program for the equipping of leaders of sustainable, high-impact organizations. In 2010, Alexander was named a "Healthcare Hero" by the Charleston Regional Business Journal and selected as one of the publication's "Top 40 Under 40" in 2011. He holds an MBA with concentration in international business from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts in religion from Charleston Southern University.
In addition to his role at OneWorld Health, Alexander is a strategy and management consultant, serving both for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. He is the chairman of South Carolina Federal Credit Union Supervisory (Audit) Committee, which manages $1.5 billion in assets and provides financial services to more than 150,000 people.
Alexander lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with his wife and three children.
