San Antonio Spurs’ Monty Williams Selected for Elite Coach Wooden “Keys to Life” Award

The 2018 Coach Wooden "Keys to Life" Award will be presented to San Antonio Spurs Vice President Monty Williams during the 22nd annual Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast, hosted by Athletes in Action during NCAA Final Four weekend. Established in 1998, the Coach Wooden "Keys to Life" Award honors athletes who model the characteristics of UCLA men's basketball coaching legend John Wooden, including his high level of moral character, integrity and faith, on and off the court.

In addition to his legacy as a first-round NBA draft pick with a successful career as both a player and a coach, Williams' reputation reaches far beyond the court. Working with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Basketball without Borders are just a few of the ways Williams has utilized his talent and influence to positively impact the lives of others. His standout character and integrity made his selection for the award easy.

"Monty Williams is an obvious choice for the Coach Wooden 'Keys to Life' Award," said Mark Householder, president of Athletes in Action. "Throughout his many roles in the professional basketball arena, he has exemplified what it means to be a man of high character. Even with his successful career, he has kept his faith and family his greatest priorities. We are very honored to recognize him."

Williams joins an elite group of basketball greats who have received the honor, including Jerry Colangelo, Del Harris, Mark Price, David Robinson, Lorenzo Romar, Cazzie Russell and Paul Westphal.
