The route of the funeral motorcade from the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Charlotte is available here. The route is expected to take approximately four hours. A media pool will provide coverage of the motorcade. An arrival ceremony will take place at the Billy Graham Library.
Once the hearse arrives at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the casket will be transported to the Billy Graham Library for a private family viewing. Media access will be limited to outside the Billy Graham Library during this time.
Following a private family viewing at the Billy Graham Library, the public will have an opportunity to honor Billy Graham. His body will lie in repose in a closed casket at the Graham Family Homeplace (next to the Billy Graham Library), which is scheduled to be open to the public Monday, Feb. 26, and Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. This will be open to credentialed media.
The United States Congress has authorized Billy Graham to lie in honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Graham is the first religious leader to be offered this distinction. His body will arrive at the Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m. ET, and a private ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.
From 1 to 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Feb. 28, the public will be welcome to honor Billy Graham in the Capitol Rotunda. For details, refer to information posted by the U.S. Capitol Police.
A private funeral service for Billy Graham will be held in a tent in the parking lot of the Billy Graham Library. This service will take place Friday, March 2, at noon. Due to limited space, a separate media credential is required to cover the private funeral service. Private: Interment Service at the Billy Graham Library Prayer Garden (Charlotte)
A private interment service for Billy Graham will be held in the Prayer Garden at the Billy Graham Library. A media pool will provide coverage of the interment.
Media credentials are required for coverage of all memorial events on-site at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201). Every member of the media must apply for media credentials by filling out this form. Submission of an application does not guarantee the approval of a media credential.
The media entrance is the Billy Graham Library entrance (located off Westmont Drive). Upon arrival, media must present a photo ID and one of the following: a working press identification, an official media outlet business card or a letter on outlet letterhead.
